“Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.”
You’ve heard the song. You’ve read the verse – Matthew 25:40.
Now come and live it with us. We call it “Adopt A Block”.
Every Saturday morning, we gather in the North Sanctuary of Church of the Rock to warm up with some coffee and doughnuts, start the day with a prayer, and plan our activities for the morning. Then we roll into diverse areas of St. Louis – places like Droste Road and Soutee Road, Riverview Garden Apartments, and Fairview.
And there we live out the Word. We preach the Gospel – but not with our mouths. Instead, we do it with our backs. We sweep the streets. We mow and rake the yards of the elderly and the disabled, and help them clean up their neighborhood. We give diapers to new mothers, hand out clean bottled water to the homeless, take garbage out of the playgrounds of young kids. We make a stand, and show some of St. Louis’ most desperate residents that someone out there cares about them – and that someone is the Lord.
We could use your help. There’s a lot of work to be done – and a lot of tired souls out there who need to see the loving hand of Jesus, pushing a mower, giving them clean water, bagging garbage. We meet at 8:45 in the North Campus, every Saturday. We’re usually done by 11:00 or 12:00 at the latest. You are invited to come with us, to do unto others – and unto Him.
