SERMON NOTES

God never intended for us to be alone, but we all experience loneliness! Pastor Blunt shares the definition of loneliness, the different types of loneliness and how we shouldn’t waste our loneliness! We believe, as you read these notes, God’s Word is working in and through you.

Loneliness = Detachment, isolation, a separation that leads to insomnia, depression, stress, anxiety feeling misunderstood, not feeling like you fit in

-You can be alone, and not lonely
-Loneliness leads to addictive behaviors
-Is an inner feeling of emptiness

Genesis 2:18 (KJV) 18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (LB) 9 Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better. 10 If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble. 11 Also, on a cold night, two under the same blanket gain warmth from each other, but how can one be warm alone? 12 And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer; three is even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

-Turn your loneliness into intimacy with God
-The answer to loneliness is a relationship with God
-Put Jesus in the center of all your relationships

Luke 5:16 (KJV) 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

All of us have been called to be alone with God

PART 2

Pastor Blunt shares what we need to overcome loneliness. Learning to be in God’s presence daily and having an intimate relationship with Him will cure loneliness. We believe, as you read these notes, God’s Word is working in and through you.

Loneliness = Isolated, separated, detached, friendless, feeling misunderstood, not feeling like you fit in. Bible definition is an inner feeling of emptiness.

-Right now the most destructive emotion is loneliness
-I can’t solve an inward problem with outward things
-We were made to have a relationship with God
-Intimacy with God is the cure to loneliness
-Loneliness breeds unhealthy habits if left unchecked

Psalm 142:3-4 (TPT) 3 For when I was desperate, overwhelmed, and about to give up, you were the only one there to help.
You gave me a way of escape from the hidden traps of my enemies. 4 I look to my left and right to see if there is anyone who will help, but there’s no one who takes notice of me. I have no hope of escape, and no one cares whether I live or die..

-We must be desperate to be with God
-With every temptation, God gives a way of escape

To overcome loneliness I need:
1. A plan to live for
    a. From God
    b. Motivate us
    c. Discipline is the strength of life

2. A people to live with
    a. Like values, vision
    b. We need one another

3. A presence to live in
    a. The presence of God
    b. You trigger it in the spiritual by triggering it in the natural

Psalm 139:7 (NIV) Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

The presence of God is dimensional
- In us
- With us
- Upon us

a. How do I recognize His presence?
b. How do I tune into His presence?
c. How do I receive His presence?

Takeaways

Psalm 27:4 (AMP) 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

-Our priority is to be in God’s presence first thing every day
-Desire to be in His presence
-Look at God’s character

Psalm 27:8 (AMP) 8 You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].

-Be a God chaser
-My outlook determines my outcome
-The most powerful prayer you can pray is God’s Word

PART 4

The right relationships will help us to overcome loneliness! Pastor shares the 3 most important relationships we must have. We believe, as you read these notes, God’s Word is working in and through you.

Definition of Loneliness = Isolated, separated, detached, friendless, feeling misunderstood, not feeling like you fit in. Bible definition is an inner feeling of emptiness.

-The only thing that can fill the emptiness is Jesus Christ.
-If not filled with Christ, other destructive relationships will fill it
-Intimacy with God is the cure to loneliness
-Loneliness breeds unhealthy habits if left unchecked

How to overcome loneliness?

1. Relationship with God

2. Relationship with His Word
    a. My relationship with the Word determines my relationship with God
    b. Our picture of God is determined by the Word
    c. Ask God to give you a desire for the Word

3. Build the relationships God has given to you
    a. Be selective with your relationships

How to discern if a friend is right for you?
1. Sacrifice for me
2. Support you
3. Sharpen you
4. Stick with you
5. Share with you

Isaiah 41:10 (AMP) 10 Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.

Hebrews 13:5 – 6 (AMP) 5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] 6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) 6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 (MSG) 6 “Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”

I can control my emotions by starting with what I'm:
1. Saying
2. Believing
3. Changing

Mark 11:23 (KJV) 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Joshua 1:8 (KVJ) 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 35:27 (MSG) But those who want the best for me, Let them have the last word—a glad shout! — and say, over and over and over, “God is great—everything works together for good for his servant. ”I’ll tell the world how great and good you are, I’ll shout Hallelujah all day, every day.
