SERMON NOTES

All of us were made for a mission! Every believer has a ministry and mission, and it’s called the great commission. We are to share the Gospel because God wants everyone to be saved, and it shows our gratitude for what Jesus did for us on the cross. We believe, as you read these notes, God’s Word is working in and through you.

Notes

What is the Great Commission?

-Has 2 sides, discipleship, and evangelism
-The world needs good news

 Matthew 28:18-20 (AMP)
18 Jesus approached and, [a]breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them [b]into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

-We are to know
-We are to grow
-We are to go

Mark 16:15-20 (KJV)
“15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”

-We need the power of the Holy Spirit to lead others to Christ.
-Miracles should be following every believer who shares and declares the good news.

What is the Gospel?

1. The good news that God sent His son to die for all mankind
2. We can all live the blessed life, not a cursed life
3. Gives the power to live a whole, healthy, happy, fulfilled and blessed life

Titus 2:11-14 (AMP)
“11 For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.” 12 It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world, 13 Awaiting and looking for the [fulfillment, the realization of our] blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),14 Who gave Himself on our behalf that He might redeem us (purchase our freedom) from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people [to be peculiarly His own, people who are] eager and enthusiastic about [living a life that is good and filled with] beneficial deeds.”

Why Share the Gospel?

1. God made us to know Him

Ephesians 1:4 (AMP)
“4 Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.”

2. God wants everyone to be saved

2 Peter 3:9 (KVJ)
“9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

3. Sharing the Gospel shows our gratitude

Ephesians 2:12 (AMP)
12 [Remember] that you were at that time separated (living apart) from Christ [excluded from all part in Him], utterly estranged and outlawed from the rights of Israel as a nation, and strangers with no share in the sacred compacts of the [Messianic] promise [with no knowledge of or right in God’s agreements, His covenants]. And you had no hope (no promise); you were in the world without God.”

4. Sharing the Gospel is connected to the return of Jesus Christ

Matthew 24:14 (NLT)
“14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”

5. Sharing the Gospel is a responsibility

Ezekiel 3:18-19 (CEV)
“18 When I tell wicked people they will die because of their sins, you must warn them to turn from their sinful ways so they won’t be punished. If you refuse, you are responsible for their death. 19 However, if you do warn them, and they keep on sinning, they will die because of their sins, and you will be innocent.”

How to Share the Gospel
1. Use tact (the right words at the right time)
2. Find something in common
3. Build a bridge
