SERMON NOTES

WEEK 1

DESCRIPTION
In this teaching, Pastor Blunt teaches us about the most important strategy we can implement for 2020. This is an expository teaching (verse by verse) where we learn what wisdom is and its importance. We believe as you read these notes God's Word is working in and through you.

NOTES
For this year we need expectations, goals and a plan to reach them.

If you want this year to be different you must do different things.

The number 20 in the Bible means expectation. We believe 2020 is a year to expect. God will do exactly what you are expecting Him to do.

We need to ask God for goals and vision for 2020. What we focus on will grow. Then we need to ask Him for a plan to reach these goals. And we also need effort so the goals can come to pass.

The most important strategy for this year is WISDOM (Godly wisdom).

Godly Wisdom: listening to God and applying what He says.

•    It’s building your house on the rock.

How can we hear His voice:

1.    Slow down:
         a. To be able to listen to God we need to slow down, we need to linger.
         b. We are in too much of a hurry.
2.     Be still
         a.    Be still and know that I am God.
3.    Silence
         a.    Getting quiet before the Lord.
4.    Solitude
         a.    Being alone with God.

Proverbs 4:7
7Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. Whatever else you get, get insight.
•    It is the most important strategy.

Proverbs 4:8
Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will bring you honor.
•    If we want next year to be great, we need to get wisdom.
•    The most important thing a Christian can learn is to hear God’s voice-Kenneth E.  Hagin

Here’s a story of Solomon. He was worshiping God and God shows him a dream and gives him a word:

1 Kings 3 GNB
4On one occasion he went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices because that was where the most famous altar was. He had offered hundreds of burnt offerings there in the past. 5That night the LORD appeared to him in a dream and asked him, “What would you like me to give you?”

•    One of the ways we can get a strategy from God is by worshiping Him.

9So give me the wisdom I need to rule your people with justice and to know the difference between good and evil. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?”

•    The greatest thing we can ask for is wisdom. It’s the strategy that will get us success.
•    Confess “heavenly Father I need Your wisdom. I believe I receive Your wisdom. I’m listening and applying what You tell me, and with it comes riches and honor.

10The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, 11and so He said to him, “Because you have asked for the wisdom to rule justly, instead of long life for yourself or riches or the death of your enemies, 12I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had before or will ever have again.

•    Wisdom will bring us more than what we asked for.

13I will also give you what you have not asked for: all your life you will have wealth and honor, more than that of any other king. 14And if you obey me and keep my laws and commands, as your father David did, I will give you a long life.”

•    Obedience will make our life longer and disobedience will make it shorter.

In Proverbs Chapter 3 we can see the benefits of Godly Wisdom.

Proverbs 3:
13 Happy [blessed, considered fortunate, to be admired] is the man who finds [skillful and godly] wisdom, And the man who gains understanding and insight [learning from God’s word and life’s experiences].
14 For wisdom’s profit is better than the profit of silver,
and her gain is better than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies; And nothing you can wish for compares with her [in value]. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

•    Wisdom will bring joy and take stress out.

17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness and favor, and all her paths are peace.
•    His wisdom will produce peace.

Shalom is the word for prosperity which means: nothing missing, nothing lacking.
•    His wisdom will make us great.

18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her.
•    If we use Proverbs 13:12 to interpret this verse, we will see that wisdom will make our hopes and desires come to pass.

7 Benefits of wisdom:
1.    Long life
2.    Riches
3.    Honor
4.    Pleasantness (shalom)
5.    Peace
6.    Hopes and desires come to pass
7.    Happiness

WEEK 2

DESCRIPTION
In this teaching, Pastor Blunt teaches us about the most important strategy we can implement for 2020. This week we learn more about its benefits and how we can obtain it. We believe as you read these notes God's Word is working in and through you.

NOTES

For our goals to come to pass we need a strategy, system, and support for 2020.

•    Support: we won’t reach anything without accountability. People in our life that love us and holds us accountable.

We call our goals outcome goals. But to achieve outcome goals we need process goals (systems, daily habits).

•    Your future is hidden in your daily routine.
•    Process goals are more important than outcome goals.
•    Ask yourself, is what I’m doing today making me the person I need to be to reach my outcome goals?

We also need to be quitters of things that hold us back.

The most important strategy is getting Godly Wisdom.
•    If we want God’s best, we need God’s wisdom.

Godly Wisdom: listening to God and applying what He says.

•    The most important thing Christians need to learn is to hear His voice.
•    We need to be hearers and doers.

Proverbs  4 GNB
7Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. Whatever else you get, get insight. 8Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will bring you honor.

•    The book ends (how you start and finish) your day determine your day.
•    Get quiet.

Proverbs 3: AMPC Here we can find wisdom’s benefits.

13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences.
•    Blessings and happiness are found in wisdom.
•    Wisdom removes stress.

14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold. 15 Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.
•    Long life comes from wisdom.

17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

•    Pleasantness is shalom in Hebrew which means: nothing missing, nothing lacking.
•    Wisdom will fill every void.
•    When we have a void, we take on addictions.

18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast. Proverbs 13:12 says that tree is when our hopes and desires come to pass. 19 The Lord by skillful and godly Wisdom has founded the earth; understanding He has established the heavens. 20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies distill the dew.

Benefits:

1.    Long-life
a.    I will live long and live strong.
2.    Rich
a.    We need to be blessed to be a blessing.
3.    Please.
4.    Pleasantness.
5.    Peace.
6.    Hopes and desires coming to pass.
7.    Happiness.

3 Ways How to Obtain Wisdom

1.    Ask for it
         a.    Most people don’t want to ask because of pride.
         b.    James 1:5 TLB If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; He will not resent it.
                   i.    Forget about what people want you to do and focus on what God wants you to do.
6 But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; 7-8 and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way and then that. If you don’t ask with faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer.
         •    The condition to receive His wisdom is that we need to ask for it with faith.
         •    We need to make divinely directed decisions.
         c.    When you are in a trial and don’t know what to do ask God for wisdom.

2.    By meditating on His Word:
         a.    Personalize it.
         b.    Visualize it.
         c.    Verbalize God’s Word.
                     •    Joshua 1:8 AMPC
                           1.    Day and night are habits.
3.    Choose the right friends.
         a.    People that will hold you accountable.
         b.    Wise walks with wise.

CONFESSION
•    God give me Your Wisdom today.  I believe I am receiving it.

         b.    Wise walks with wise.
4.    Develop a fear of the Lord.
         a.    It is not a negative fear but a positive one.
         b.    Its submission, devotion, and obedience.
             •    Submission: the more we surrender to God, the more we grow.
             •    Devotion: make Him a priority.
             •    Obedience: do what He says.

Fear hates evil.

12 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. 13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance,
 evil behavior and perverse speech.

•    The closer I get to God the more I hate evil.

3 Reasons I should Hate Evil:

1.  It’s destructive and corruptive.
2.  It gives ground to the devil.
3.  Because our Father hates it too.

WEEK 4

DESCRIPTION
In this series, Pastor Blunt has been teaching us about the most important strategies we can implement to have a successful year. This week we look at the strategy of "No Complaining". We believe as you read these notes, God's Word is working in and through you.

NOTES

Every new season takes a new skill and a new strategy.
•    What worked last year won’t work this year.

Today we will talk about the following strategy: QUIT COMPLAINING.

Complaining has become an epidemic. But we are not to be average but set apart and champions. Because everyone complains doesn’t give us a reason to. We are to be unique for our Master’s use.

We will never go where we want to go if we are complaining where we are today. Complaining is the voice of a victim.

3 REASONS PEOPLE COMPLAIN

1.    Feel hopeless
          a.    If we don't have hope in our future, we don't have power in our present
2.    Feel powerless
          a.    We complain because we can’t do anything about it and have a victim mindset
          b.    We have power to choose our decisions
          c.    Nothing changes until we change
3.    Feel useless
          a.    If you feel useless join our movement and become a Dream Teamer

We must change our conversation if we want to change our culture, atmosphere, environment… and our culture determines the course of our life.

We need the Holy Spirit and people to help us and hold us accountable to change.

1 Corinthians 10: 10-11 (this verse is in reference of God’s people when they were leaving Egypt and complaining).
10We must not complain, as some of them did — and they were destroyed by the Angel of Death. 11All these things happened to them as examples for others, and they were written down as a warning for us. For we live at a time when the end is about to come.

•    Because they complained they didn’t make it to the dream.
•    When I complain I open the door to the destroyer - we give him access.
•    This is a model we are to learn from on what no to do.

Philippians 2:14 AMP

14 Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves].
•    Everything means work, house, church, all activities
•    Complaining blocks blessing
•    If you look for a fault you are going to find it

3 STEPS TO QUIT COMPLAINING
1.    Practice gratitude
2.    Practice praising other people
          a.    People that can’t give compliments feel insecure about themselves
          b.    Focus on what people do right
          c.    Marriages won’t work until we stop finding fault
          d.    Praise 1 person every day
3.    Practice writing a daily success journal
          a.    All movers and shakers have journals
          b.    It will force us to focus on the positive

3 REASONS WHY WE JOURNAL
1.    To express our experiences and emotions to God
          a.     Psalms 6:28 AMPC Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
          b.    God already knows what’s in your heart, but something happens when we write it down

2.    We are recording God’s faithfulness
          a.    Psalms 77:11-12 AMPC
11Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him, all nations shall serve Him. 12 For He delivers the needy when he calls out, the poor also and him who has no helper.
          b.    When we meditate on Him it reminds us of all the good God has done and what He is doing

3.    Brings out self-awareness
          a.    To spot attitudes, patterns, and habits that need to change
          b.    It could be we are the problem
          c.    Lamentations 3:40 AMPC “Let us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!”
          d.    We need self-awareness

4.    You are recording your spiritual journey legacy
          a.    Psalm 102:18 AMPC “Let this be recorded for the generation yet unborn, that a people yet to be created shall praise the Lord”
          b.    Then your next-generation reads what God did with you

GOLDEN NUGGETS
•    We will never go to where we want to go if we are complaining where we are today
•    Nothing changes until we change
•    Complaining is the voice of a victim

WEEK 5

DESCRIPTION
In this series, Pastor Blunt has been teaching us about the most important strategies we can implement to have a successful year. This week we take a look at the strategy of "Helping Others". We believe as you read these notes God's Word is working in and through you.

NOTES
We have learned so far that the number one strategy we need is wisdom. With it comes riches and honor. Godly wisdom is listening to God and then applying what He says. We also covered a second strategy, “Quit Complaining”.

Our third strategy is “Helping Other People”.

Ephesians 2:10 TLB
10 It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.

•    We need to spend our lives helping other people.

HELP OTHERS

•    The call of God on our life is to make a contribution with our life.

•    Think not what I can take but contribute. What am I contributing to my church, community, etc?

•    The world is all about getting. When we give, we make a difference.

•    This year let’s be radical, outrageous, and remarkable. Let’s go out of our way and help other people.

•    We need to find a need and meet it. Look for opportunities to be a blessing.

4 Things Selfishness Causes

1.    It will bring a curse on us.
         a.    Proverbs 28:27
2.    Will bring poverty.
         a.    Proverbs 11:26
         b.    God has redeemed us from the spirit of poverty.
3.    It will bring emptiness.
         a.    Proverb 13:7
4.    Causes our prayers to go unanswered.
         a.    Proverbs 22:13

Matthew 20:28 TLB
28Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

•    God called us to put others above ourselves.
•    You can get everything in life you want if you help enough people get what they want.
•    What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.

Romans 6:13 TEV
13Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin to be used for wicked purposes. Instead, give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes.

•    Nothing changes until you change.

How Does God Use Me to Help Others

•    We are never too broken for God to use us.
•    People don’t relate to our greatness, but to our weaknesses and then our transformation.
•    Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.

1.    Give myself completely to God
2.    Make myself available
         a.    He is not looking for ability but for availability
3.    Make myself usable
         a.    By being adaptable, changeable, flexible
4.    Make myself remarkable
         a.    Give God my best
         b.    Remarkable is when people remark on your ability, character, service
         c.    Our remarkability can change more people than words

Golden Nuggets

•    Nothing changes until you change.
•    You can get everything you want in life if you help enough people get what they want.
•    The world is all about getting. When we give, we make a difference.
