Weekly Leadership Lifter

June 15, 2023

Even though their name might be on the outside of the building and their signature on the checks, business owners who want to be legendary leaders realize they “own” nothing. They are merely stewards of God’s business. They understand that everything they have is from God. Their resources, finances, relationships, and assets are all gifts from above. Not only does this help them walk in humility, but they can live free from worry and fear because they know they have a CEO/ Owner who is working all things together for their good.

God never intended for us to have to go it alone in the marketplace. He knew we would need a partner. A partner is one who participates in what we are going through and cooperates with us to reach a particular goal. And let me encourage you, God sent you the best partner you could ever hope for. One that can help you steward His business to be exactly what God wants it to be. He sent you the Holy Spirit. Let me tell you there is no greater partnership for you to have than one with the Holy Spirit.

"Without the Spirit of God we can do nothing. We are ships without wind. We are useless.”
— Charles Spurgeon

"It is futile for us to try to serve God without the power of the Holy Spirit. Talent, training, and experience cannot take the place of the power of the Spirit."
— Warren Wiersbe

In John 14:16 (AMP), the Bible mentions some of the names for the Holy Spirit, which gives us some insight into just how He assists us: “And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever…”

Here is a brief description of those roles:

COMFORTER: He encourages and gives us hope. (Acts 9:31)

COUNSELOR: He gives us plans and instructions. (Romans 8:14)

HELPER: He is useful to us and aids us when we need assistance. (Romans 8:26)

INTERCESSOR: He helps us pray according to the perfect will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)

ADVOCATE: He defends us and pleads our case in the spiritual realm. (Romans 8:16)

STRENGTHENER: He gives power and might. (Ephesians 3:16)

STANDBY: He is always ready and available for action. (Acts 8:39)

What an awesome gift from God! I encourage you to get to know the Holy Spirit and allow Him to partner with you — not only in your personal life, but in your business as well. If you do, I promise you things will never be the same!

COTR Marketplace Ministry is a ministry for those in the marketplace and those interested in starting a business. Lifelong learners, entrepreneurs, and business owners meet to grow in their leadership and skills. This is a great place to network, build relationships and exchange ideas!

We are taking a short break this summer. However, please join us Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 4:15pm in the main campus lobby. We will have guest speaker, former Navy SEAL, Chad Williams! Drawing from his experiences as a SEAL, Chad grabs hold of his listeners, illustrating the SEAL mindset and ethos that revolve around leadership, teamwork, integrity, safety, mental toughness, discipline, overcoming adversity and grit.

If you would like to showcase your business services or products, we have a unique opportunity to set up display tables at the event. For $60 you can reserve a table where you will be able to tell others about the services you provide and sell those services and/or products. We will open this 45 minutes before and 30 minutes after the Marketplace dinner to display your business.

Dinner and childcare are included in the price of your ticket. Purchase your tickets online for just $15 or $20 at the door.
